How do I run tests in Visual Studio 2012 with the built-in Test Explorer?
Visual Studio 2012 introduced a new extensible test runner that was designed specifically for developer testing like TDD. The Test Explorer is a simple to use, single pane view of available tests and tests results:
To run xUnit.net tests in Visual Studio 2012, go to Tools > Extensions and Updates, then click on the "Online" header in the left section. Use the search box in the upper right corner to search for "xunit", and then install the runner, as shown highlighted in the screenshot below:
You will need to restart Visual Studio after installing any extensions. Note: Express versions of Visual Studio do not support 3rd party plugins like the xUnit.net test runner. You must use a paid version of Visual Studio to take advantage of this feature.
